What is Baptism?
Water Baptism is the next step after receiving salvation, and involves the full immersion of a person in water, accompanied by a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ as lord.
water baptism is undertaken in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit in accordance with Matthew 28:19.
in being baptised, We believe:
we are obeying god’s command to be baptised in acts 2:38
we follow the example set by jesus, who himself was baptised in matthew 3:16
we are symbolising the death of our old life in sin, and our raising to new life in christ through his resurrection as in Romans 6:4-8.
we are obeying the great commision to go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit; matthew 28:19-20.
those who confess christ as lord before others will in turn be acknowledged by jesus in heaven; Matthew 10: 32.
practically, your location will facilitate baptisms slightly differently depending on the availability of facilities. However, all locations will follow the below steps in the lead up to your baptism:
Your location team will ask you to register your interest in being baptised.
You will be asked to outline your beliefs and the reasons for wanting to be baptised. Your location team will work with you to ensure you know what baptism is, why we get baptised and what baptism means.
Our team will be excited to include you in an upcoming baptism in front of the church - it is important that the church are able to witness your baptism and celebrate with you! we encourage you to invite your family and friends to witness your decision.
